Editing, creating and staying positive.

The dreaded editing of my book Mr Fortuna is still ongoing...I know I ought to focus and get it done but I've had a new idea.

I have started a new work entitled One World. It is quite ambitious in that I'm creating an imaginary earth existing in a parallel universe. Things have not developed on this other world as they have on our own for reasons which will become apparent when you read the book. It could be a while before anyone sees it though because it will take a lot of research to achieve something credible.

I approach research with a mixture of fascination and trepidation. One can get lost in endless searches for the right information and frustrated when you can't find exactly what you want. Story lines might have to change when you realise that your brilliant idea just isn't feasible.

How lucky writers are now that we have the internet. The answers to most questions are found with a simple enquiry typed into a search engine. However bizarre the query something will come back.

Last week our television died and we had to wait a week for a new one to be delivered. It was quite liberating having to use one's time more constructively. My house is very clean and I managed to fill two bin bags with stuff we no longer need. The house is less cluttered but my mind is crammed fuller than usual. Back to the research.
